Artist for Hire!

Sunday, September 2nd, 2007

SITE CHANGES:
I will be switching the site around pretty dramatically throughout the weekend. Please excuse the dust! I should be finished by Monday.

ARTIST FOR HIRE:

This is the AD I posted on Comic Jobz yesterday;

Life’s A Bluff (the poker webcomic) is looking forward to a major relaunch and I am in need of an artist to do 12 strips per month for a M-W-F format.

Poker knowledge a plus but not a requirement.

Artist must also be able to do the spur of the moment news worthy strips with at least 1 day notice.

This is a PAYING gig with various perks.

Good work ethic a must. There will be deadlines.

Please contact me here … or email lifesabluff at gmail dot com with the subject header : ARTIST FOR HIRE if you are interested in the details.

Bad Beat on Cancer:

First I want to extend our well wishes to Jo Anne & Michael Craig. Michael is a friend of the site and most of you know him from his books, most notably; The Professor, the Banker, and the Suicide King & the Full Tilt Blog.

Michael recently wrote a very heartful blog about his wife Jo Anne having breast cancer. I truly wish her a quick and easy recovery. My thoughts go out to the entire Craig family.

I know the pain and heart-ache of this terrible disease all too well. It has hit my family especially hard. Just about every member of my family who has passed has had some form of cancer or another. Started with my father and most recently Sicily. I always have the fear in the back of my mind … I am next….

Michael also mentions the upcoming Bad Beat on Cancer tournament being held @ Full Tilt on September 9th at 18:30 ET. It is a $5 + $5 buyin. More details to come. I am in the process of seeing how Life’s A Bluff can participate… I was thinking about putting a bounty on my head and maybe the head of another LaB team member.

Check back in the next day or two for more information regarding.

NEW SPONSOR:

We are VERY proud to announce Copag Cards as a new sponsor of Life’s A Bluff. Copag has been a favorite of mine for years! Anytime I host a home game we are using their cards.. I wouldn’t have it any other way. I even take my decks to other games so we don’t have to play with crap. It really is an honor to have them on board.

They were kind enough to donate some cool swag items for us to give away as prizes. Check back soon for details on how to win a deck of Copag Cards!

BAD BEAT ON CANCER:

Sunday’s Bad Beat on Cancer tournament was great fun! I plan on playing in the next one for sure. Rafe thinks it might have been a record number of people. That is great!

I was seated with JJ Liu until she was eliminated when someone hit a flush card on the river. I had a good time kidding back and forth with her. Matt Waldron came in and put another bounty on my head when he offered to buy JJ dinner at the Bike if she eliminated me. She then proceeded to raise just about every big blind I was in. I decided to fight back on one hand after I had enough and re-raised her all in with my pocket fives. She called with A8o and I doubled up. I think she may have thought I was on tilt. I had lost a big pot a few hands earlier.

There were over 300 people and I think I was eliminated somewhere in the early 80s. I forget how hard it is to play when everyone is gunning for you. Every pot I raised.. I had at least 3-4 callers. Finally I decided to just tighten up and wait for the good hand. I doubled up one more time before I was eliminated by A9 against my JJ - all in preflop (4 total callers) and he hit 2 pair on flop.

So Peter from the UK… Expect your Copag Cards & wooden box soon!

The winner of the tournament beat out Phil Gordon 3 way. I told him that he also wins a prize from LaB and to email me. So far I have not yet heard from him. So I will give him 7 days to claim his prize.

PROBLEMS with IE

Some of you may have a problem seeing the site correctly with Internet Explorer. I will take care of it. It is just a minor fix.

ARTIST SEARCH

I have narrowed down the choice of artist to 4 people. All 4 are extremely talented and it has been very hard deciding. I should have a final pick by tomorrow and will announce it to the site sometime this week. I received well over 30 applicants and each one of them brought their own unique take on the characters.

I wish I could pick all 4 and just split the workload… but I won’t do that.

Thank you to everyone who applied and I wish you all the best of luck in your future projects!
