Morons Invade Ladies Event

Yep… that’s Jose Canseco, former professional baseball player, steroid abuser, wife beater, world class punk, & now poker “pro?” sitting in on last weeks California State Poker Championship LADIES No Limit Hold’em poker tournament that was held at the Commerce Casino. You heard me… the LADIES ONLY event. It seems that Josy and 5 other morons decided to break ettiqute (at the very least) and show what kind of men they really are by enforcing the “no descrimination” policy that casinos must abide by.
Look at that dumb smirk on that idiot’s face…..
Dear Hose Hay Canseco and 5 other clowns who imposed, what the hell is wrong with you?

The days of “Whites Only” and similar discrimination is over. Why should there be a ladies only poker tourney? This is one of the few competitive events where physical stamina has NO bearing on the game and competion is fair and equal. Shame on the California State Poker Championship for thinking that those poor lil girls can’t compete with real men at a real man’s game.

The same way that the abolition of Jim Crow laws did not cause blacks to flow to the polls. Many people still need to be introduced to the game, and women have a documented hesitation about two things…playing in a casino and playing with a bunch of unknown men. Women’s poker tournaments help introduce them to the game so they can gain confidence and start playing open fields. Where they just might whip Jose’s ass anyway.

I find it amazing that certain people take it upon themselves to “tear down walls” when really they have no business there. What got into those morons heads is beyond me.
Now, I certainly have no doubt that if there were a “Men Only” event… you would have a group of women who would not let that stand… They would be burning bras and turning cars over to get in. BUT those woman would know what to expect once they go inside. A not so warm welcome by a some rowdy men who will go out of their way to make these “invaders” feel uncomfortable..
In the reverse situation it is an even worse violation in my eyes… Here you have former pro baseball player, standing 6 foot something weighing 200+ pounds with probably lots of roid rage, using his amazing presence to intimidate some lady who is there only because he heard about the Ladies event. A ladies CHAMPIONSHIP at that! I guess for the sake of comic material it would have been great had Jose won. But as it is, in the poker world, he will probably never live his attendance in this game down. And he shouldn’t. In fact we should give him a nickname that fits.
So in poker .. he will at least be known at the very least a scum-ball who doesn’t practice (long standing) normal etiquette. And to the rest of the world, he remains a wife-beating, steroid abuser.
But I just wonder about the ladies that were there who had been abused or harassed by a man either in a poker game or in their own home.. How they must have felt watching Jose walk in. I just hope it doesn’t deter them from playing another live event.
Molly you say that physical stamina has no bearing on the game…. now I would argue that point different, but right now it doesn’t matter because it was physical presence that most certainly had an edge here.
BTW, your comment about poker being a real mans game BTW… is laughable at the least.
Oh and one last thing before I forget … (Just in case he knows how to work the Internets) Jose, can I have your autograph? On my wife beater hanes t-shirt. Thanks!

I’m a woman and I love poker so let’s get rid of the notion of “a real man’s game”.
Men may have dominated poker for a while now, but women are catching up fast and certainly many have proven themselves at the table…do you need names?
There may be some women out there that prefer the “ladies only” tournaments for any number of reasons….and for Jose to demand to play was childish.
As far as physical stamina, I’d have to agree with Frank here, have you ever played a 5, 6 or 10 hr tourney? It can wear you out….so men MAY have the edge here.
Sometimes it’s nice to play in a ladies only tourney if only to get away from the burps, farts and and crotch grabbing…..:)

Nope, no deal. If there was a Men Only tourney there would be protest lines and national coverage (see the PGA) But somehow it is okay if it’s women? Bull. Discrimination always seems plausible to the ones doing the discrimination. It doesn’t matter if there are positive reasons for doing it, the positive reasons apply only to the women. There were LOTS of positive reasons to continue segrigation for whites, but that wasn’t the point was it?
