Life's A Bluff - Break Time

We are back!

Lots of stuff to mention so lets get right to it! Today is our big relaunch and our return to a 3 comic per week update schedule. That means every Monday, Wednesday, & Friday you can count on a brand new Life’s A Bluff comic. And on Fridays, you will be treated to our spin-off strip “Laak & Loaded” co/written (at times) by Phil Laak.

Many of you have asked what role “The Unabomber” will have here @ LaB. Just like the strip, his participation will be fluid and evolve over time. We will all just have to wait and see what craziness he has cooked up. So far I have heard some great stories that are going to translate very well into comic strips.

Look for him also to pop up from time to time on our message boards.

As we approach our 100th strip I reflect at the progress we have made as a webcomic. It wasn’t that long ago that I was begging DJ Coffman of Yirmumah almost daily to help me get this thing off the ground. I was lucky to get him to agree and while it was a short run it certainly was the start of something amazing. DJ has since moved on to do the critically acclaimed Hero By Night but the foundation he left is solid and strong. Since then we have had our ups and downs but today I sit here living out a dream. Playing poker and making comics…. What else could be better??!

I am very lucky to be part of a webcomic dream team; Ryan Estrada, Phil Laak, and an amazing crew. Be sure to bookmark us, tell your friends, tell your friends friends, let the world know the Life’s A Bluff is back and here to stay!

Laak Photoshop Contest:

I am going to extend the deadline on this until Friday. So you all still have time to get your entries in! The best will win a deck of Copag playing cards. See here for the details and the image to shop. 2 entries per person allowed.

Nancy Cartwright Charity Poker Tournament:

This past Saturday night, Nancy Cartwright (the voice of Bart Simpson) hosted a charity poker tournament to benifit the Los Angles Police Department - Police Activities League (PALS). We contributed several pieces of artwork to auction off. I don’t have all the details yet but check back later on how the event turned out along with some pictures.

The artwork of Ryan Estrada, Chad Diez, & Veronica Rosado were submitted. See what we came up with here.

Phil Laak Interview:

Phil Laak drawn by Zombie JacksThis interview was done a few months ago and appeared in the first issue of Under the Gun DVD Magazine. The questions were complied by the LaB Crew and follow our signature random questions format. Some of the questions are being seen for the first time.

If you haven’t yet seen or heard about UTG, you are missing out. Check out the videos on their page including the Jennifer Harman Charity event we participated in. Great coverage. And look for our review of the mag soon.

“God comes and goes with the flops. There is a God when I have set over set. And when the guy makes quads on the river, well then maybe there is no God.” - Phil Laak

The One Year Pledge:

Today is October 1st. If we miss one comic update at any time for any reason other than a major emergency I will shave my head. This is valid for 1 year and will expire on October 1st 2008.

The Colorado Rockies:

The Colorado Rockies can clinch a playoff wildcard spot in a tie breaker game tonight against the San Diego Padres. Denver is going crazy right now with baseball fever and I have caught it…. SO LETS GO ROCKIES!!! Do that damn thing!!

Ok, thats all I got… See you Wednesday!
