This conversation is not that far from the type that I have had with my mother on more than one occasion. You see, a couple of years ago I started to teach her how to play and she has been hooked ever since. But there are many times where I try to explain something and we get caught up in this sort of “who’s on first” type of dialogue. Now don’t get me wrong, she has become a very good player. In fact, just the other night she took 2nd in the Life’s A Bluff home game and I would put my money on her before most of my friends… But I am not sure she will ever grasp all the various poker terms , lingo , and pop culture references that we all have come to use on an everyday basis.

So todays comic is for you Ma….. I’ll explain who David Sklansky is later.

Colorado Rockies :

What a game, what a game, what a motha grumblin game! Now that is what baseball is all about. I tip my hat to the entire organization and all their fans. I wish I could say that I have followed the team since the start but I have not. I was born and will die a Yankees fan. This year though… I am rooting for the Rockies all the way and if they happen to face the Yanks come World Series time… It will be the first time in my life I root against the pinstripes.

Home Game of the Week:

This idea was presented to me a while back by Matt Waldron and think it could be a cool thing to do. What I would like to get those of you out there to take a picture or three of your home game send it in along with a description of the party you throw. Include how many people attend, your stakes, food provided or not, various prizes, etc. We will pick the game we think looked like was the most fun that week and post it here on the front page. Each month we will pick the best overall and that game will win a prize yet to be determined. Something to compliment your game…. Maybe some Copag cards.

Here are a few shots from the LaB game the other night. It was in part my birthday party but more to celebrate the return of LaB. We had 11 players and about 8 kids. The kids had a good time with the Wii and Halo 3 so there was no problems there. The game started around 7:30pm and ended about 2am. We had plenty of beer, food, snacks, etc. I ordered a 6 foot subway that was surprisingly good and picked up a couple of those mini party kegs. For $10 we got 5 gallons of Coors Light. Good times. The Heineken was a about 20. It just might be a staple at every game from now on. I also had a bottle of wine that I was saving for a special occasion. It was an Italian import I won in a poker game a few years ago. What a huge disappointment it was. Ah well, it was all about the toast anyway.

Normally we have the same guy deal. It is time to get him a red vest and a bow tie!

The girls were kicking ass that night.

Final 3 - I busted out in 4th.

In the end it was a great time had by all. 3 places were paid. First place was $110 or so and I threw in a Copag wooden box. My friend Chris took it down with my momma finishing second and Blue taking 3rd.
