The Poker World Mourns….

One day later and I don’t think there is a poker player around who still isn’t in some sort of shock. While I never had the oppurtunity to meet Chip, I have met many of his friends and they all say the same thing…. There wasn’t a nicer guy or a better player. If Doyle Brunson is Babe Ruth… we just lost Mickey Mantle…
Our thoughts go out to the Reese family and all of his friends.
If you haven’t yet had a chance to listen to Bear’s blog yesterday…. please do… Barry made some very good observations about poker players in general and the overall lack of care we keep of our bodies. I know he checks this site out from time to time and I want to thank him for what he said. If anything you made a difference to me. I have ignored my health long enough and I am going to make an extra effort starting today to be more mindful of it. Eating a little healthier really isn’t all that hard.
You know, I just got out of the hospital and while I was there was told I had low potassium. That wasn’t the first time I had heard that either. There is no excuse for that.
Now don’t get me wrong.. Barry was not suggesting that Chip’s diet played a part in his death… It was just an observation in general of poker players. I am not sure anyone knows right now exactly what happened. Over the next few days I am sure we will find out. There are a number of things that could have gone wrong. Read the In Memory of .pdf for some more details on this.
Chip… if you happen to run into a skinny Italian with the last name Frisina… Say hello for me will ya?
