Final Statement & the How-To

Sunday, April 19th, 2009

At the request of my niece and for the sake of her privacy, I have one final statement regarding last week’s ordeal;

She is safe and at home, she did NOT run away, and we are not releasing any more information at this time.

There has been some speculation and insinuation going around and some of it has just been downright asinine. That somehow my family is to blame OR that we should reimburse law enforcement for possibly wasting resources. I normally would have a lot to say or a few suggested places you can stick it, but I think this says it best;

“Any missing child, ANY missing child should be taken seriously. If some child ran away, is he/she at any less risk? That child is out there living somewhere without the protection of his/her parents and is vulnerable to all sorts of sleaze bags that are prowling the streets and malls looking for fresh meat?

How many kids end up living on the streets after their “friends” show them the door? Now, we have real trouble…gangs, prostitution, crime? Are you telling me that every parent that has a child that disappears has to go through a Q&A by local law enforcement so that a decision can be made whether to try and find this child?? Is is worth the trouble and expense when it’s ONLY a “runaway”?

Your god damned right it is…..

If every child had the benefit of family and friends working hard to get the word out (thanks to the Internet) about their disappearance maybe there would be more Jennifers home sleeping in their beds tonight, instead of being forgotten about…out on the streets, and being abused by who knows who……because, after all she’s a runaway.

That could have been Jennifer…..and now it’s not. ”

There may be a time where I will have something new but for now, that is that.

The How-To:

As some of you know we are putting together a how-to for parents. The biggest shock of this whole experience was the info that I got from a 20 year investigator, regarding the majority of parents not having a clue on how to go about finding their missing child. I guess because I grew up with computers and my kids are not the experts in my house.

If anyone would like to help with this effort in both putting it together and/or distributing it around, please email me @ lifesabluff@gmail.com

I think it should be part guide to the various social network platforms and part technical how-to. How a parent goes about checking and monitoring what is done online, and how they can access their kid’s various accounts. It would cover what should be done if your child comes up missing AND how to keep the computer they use safe.  And it should all be done in layman’s terms.

Those of you who consider yourselves experts in any area that may be of benefit, and would like to help,  email me!

Thanks again to everyone who has been sending us positive emails.   For every moron with an opinion there are 20 who are geniuninly caring. I have tried to answer them all but if I missed any, don’t take it personal,  we do read every one of them.
