Rallying the Internet!

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Whatever you all are doing .. KEEP DOING!    Channel 4 here in Denver will be airing our story on the 5 & 6pm shows.   The other news networks won’t post the story because there is no evidence of “foul play”.  Chan 4 is going to take the approach of the story being the actual rallying of the Internet.   There is also another investigator assigned due to the overwhelming response/pressure of you all.

Twitter has been a great tool.  The more talk we have the better chance of people seeing it.   Spread the story around…. Follow me @ http://twitter.com/frankfrisina

If by chance this site goes down again, Twitter is where I will post first.    I was told that it isn’t a traffic issue but a memory prob.  I have disabled everything I can so hopefully we wont have any more downtime.

Again… the best thing we all can be doing right now is keep the pressure on.   The more Internet outlets that pick this up the better.   We need everyone.    If we can get hundreds of people to call the local news networks, spreading the word via social networks, post on your blogs, etc… They have to listen to us.     Just the comic community alone has the ability to reach millions….

I don’t care if they consider the story,  the response…   Whatever it takes to get the word out.

SHE IS HOME – Safe and Sound

SAFE!

What a day today was.  I went from one spectrum of emotions to the other in hours.   I had almost convinced myself it was all hopeless and we would not have a good ending.  It sure makes me feel for all those parents out there who are still missing children.   In fact while I have the attention;

“The Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act was passed on July 25, 2006—20 years after Adam Walsh’s abduction. The act established a National Sex Offender Registry law, but recent news reports reveal most states will not be in compliance with the law by the upcoming July 2009 deadline. If senators and state representatives don’t comply with and fully fund the act, it will expire.”

Visit this link to find out how you can make sure this does not expire.  John Walsh said it best…  something to the effect of , we just spent billions to bail out the banks… how about we bail out our children….

Ok… here is how it all went down..   Thanks to all of you out there that used your connections, twitter accounts, social networks, etc…  Because I am absolutely positive that is what saved the day.   The Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Dept. in the past 24 hours have been so inudated with phone calls from you angry citizens wondering why nothing was being done.   The pressure all of you put on the media and the law enforcement agencies made all the difference.    We could not get her picture on the news because there was no signs of “foul play” and it, as far as I am concerned wasn’t yet newsworthy.   I guess you have to be a 6 year old child or a body to get some action.    I knew though that they could not ignore the public.  Sure they could pass the family off as concerned but they were no where near as pro-active until the Internet got active.   Can’t pass hundreds/thousands of people off.

However, Channel 4 news here in Denver came by and did an interview with my sister and took the angle that it was “new technology” that was being called into action.   They referred to Twitter and the various social networks.    So that was the story… there just happen to be a missing teen along with it.    But whatever… because it worked.    Everyone of you can pat yourselves on your back for a job well done.   I will post the video of the news report asap…  because you all should see it.  I just need to get it online.

You know..  The investigator said in all his years on the force he has never seen or had this kind of help/response from family and friends.   We did more than most people ever think of.   I found that a startling statistic.   There all are all these people who have no idea how to really use the Internet for this kind of thing.    He suggested that when all this blew over that we should think about putting together a quick howto.  That way other parents can reach out like we did.   I think that is a great idea.

On behalf of my family I have to thank each and everyone who helped from the bottom of my heart.   You all had so many different impacts on the situtation but most of all you kept us sane.   I was quickly crackin though and I am not sure how much longer I could have taken it without really losing it.   Those of you who donated reward money… a special thanks.   We raised over 3,000 dollars in less than 24 hours.   It would have been more but I stopped taking donations.    You will all get your money back over the next day.   I want to make sure your paypal fees are recouped.

As far as how Jennifer is or what actually happened, all I can say right now is that she is OK and appears unharmed.   I don’t really want to go into too many details for various reasons but at least know that she is a little shook-up but is not hurt.     It turns out someone she was with saw something on the Internet about her being missing and made sure she got home.   So whether it was Twitter, myspace, whatever…  That is what did it.

BTW.  I did get the phone records today.  1 day wait.  Investigator said even with a warrant, the quickest he was able to get phone records for anything was 3 days and it usually takes longer.   The actual text messages were going to take a few days but we did get the incoming/outgoing.  It wasn’t the gold mine that I had hoped but it was helpful.   Now normally even on a rush job they do take a few days to get it to you, but the guys over at Cricket on Arapahoe road though stepped up my request and got it for me in 1 day.   Big thank you to them.

Ok… so that’s about it for now.   I will get those videos up within the next hour or so. Again thank you to everyone.   I hope that I never have to go through something like this again.   It is a feeling people should go a lifetime, without.

UPDATE:

Someone asked me how many new Twitter followers I got over the last 24 hours.   Almost 400!   This page alone recieved over 30k hits yesterday.  That is just awesome.  The word sure was out!

Here is the video from Channel 4 in Denver today;

I edited out the interview with my sister. I just wanted to show you all how much your efforts had impact.

Hello again from the road LaB Faithful!  Travelling Matt here again to bring you pictures and updates from the road. Watch this space during the WSOP final table for the best I can bring you from a ‘media eye view’ at the World Series of Poker Final Table.

I’ll try not to go into a coma from too many Jack Link’s Beef Steak Nuggets (hey…its free food) while I get video updates, comments and gossip from pros and celebs in attendance and pictures of the action.

Check out the discussion threads at PokerRoad and follow the hand for hand details at PokerNews. For instant pics and update details, check out my twitter feed over the next few days.

Kevin Shaffel eliminated when his AA is cracked by KK…well, quad kings held by Buchman.  Bust out interview footage and details soon.  Shaffel was a ‘grinder’ favorite to win, and despite bing 80-20…he did not make it out.

Phil Ivey has used the recent chip shift to apparently start making his move.  He has popped up from the bottom and is now ahead of Schulman in 5th.  I’m watching his eyes here and I can’t tell you how eerie it is.  Its like a predator in a pen with some mildly dangerous prey.

I recorded interviews with Doyle Brunson on his new autobiography, with Chau Giang about the WSOP final table and the evolution of poker, with Layne Flack about the state of poker and what young people have to just LIVE through to become great or even successful, and with a man who has possibly the most interesting name ever Aubrey Archangel, of the IAVA (Iraq Afghanistan Veterans Association) about his amazing organization.

10 pm — WTF?!?  This last break say Darvin Moon make two rather…unconventional plays and Steven Begleiter call off a ton of chips to Saout with middle pair no kicker, was ahead but not really to two overs and a flush draw.  Flush got there.  Since then, I’ve been talking to the pros railing the Bluff Magazine live feed and on the ME rail…quite a ton of star power here, though most made a quick exit…

How could you do that to them Darvin?

12:30 am –

Superman met his kryptonite in the form of a logger from Eastern Maryland when Moon made AQ > AK and sent the world’s best to the rail.  Ivey…media shy or in shock over prop bets lost that could easily equal his actual winning…stood up press outside of the arena and did not do an exit interview.  Edit:  Turns out he just wanted to go play 2k/4k on FTPseriously.

The elder statesman induct Mike Sexton into the Poker HoF

8pm — (yes, out of order, deal with it.)  The only person to get enough votes to get into the Poker Hall of Fame, Mike Sexton, received his induction during a 2 hour dinner break and then was recognized right before play began.  He was joined by fellow HoF members including Billy Baxter, Doyle Brunson, Binion, Helmuth, and Cloutier.  Mike looked exstatic and it is this writer’s opinion that very few out there could even hold a candle to Mike’s bid for the Hall.  Way to go Mr. Sexton, you are the Ambassador of Poker.

Came out happy with $2.5mil but disapointed with not winning.

3:15am – Hand 236 – Shulman will not need to find a convenient trash can for the WSOP ME bracelet.  Even though he later retracted his controversial statement, many wondered what kind of statement the younger CardPlayer Exec would handle things if he won the title.  Not a worry now as Saout outraced Shulman’s pocket sevens with A9o and Jeff had to settle for a little over 2.5 million to go home with.

Buchman goes bye bye

Buchman goes bye bye

5:10 am – hand 271 – Buchman falls from grace.  After recently having the chip lead a series of critical hands put Buchman in trouble and a double race with Darvin Moon (the winner being the underdog each time) Buchman hits the rail and we are down to 4.

5:35am  -  Quack-Quack Waddle-Waddle.  Cada hits another two outter to crush and overpair when he fourbets all in with 22.  Saout is crushed down to less just above half the chips of both Moon and the new chipleader Cada.

5:55 am — BOOM!!  (Now we can go to bed.) Cada and Saout square off of in a race for the rest of the Frenchman’s chips and Cada’s AKo outruns the 88 of Antoine with a King-ball on the river and we are now heads up…or will be in a couple of days.  What will I do till then huh?

Faces in the crowd:  Oh, some of my favorite things…the people that make up the game.  Tons more on my Flickr Page.
